The Treasury
It all started several years ago...
Rumors state it was originally a meteor that crashed in the Clan Lands, severing into several small pieces. Others claim these small treasures were manifested by the gods as a reward for taking care of the land.
Wherever they come from, however, the rarity and value of these gem shards has only increased with each passing year.
Originally thought to be restricted to the Caverns of Koroth, the smaller gems have since been discovered over all of the areas of the Clan Lands. While most treasure-seekers have the best of luck mining in the
Caverns, several lucky dragons have managed to stumble upon several lodes within all of the Clan's corners. Originally the gems were of little value as the dragons were unsure of what to do with them. Since then,
several of the Clan's blacksmiths were able to harness the power in some of the shards and form them into a much bigger, much more intriguing stone lovingly referred to as an "Elemental".
Since the forging of the elementals, gems have sharply increased in value. Dragons around the Clan had begun hoarding them to trade in for riches beyond their wildest dreams. The original frenzy over gems is
thought to only intensify as more and more is discovered about these mysterious jewels.

Many of our older members were lucky enough to collect some of these elusive little prizes in the old Clan. Now we're putting them to work.
You'll notice each member now has a Gem total below their post count! This is a total of all of the small Gems that you have collected. We will no longer be keeping track of the small gems as far as your amount
per color - all of the small gems have an equal value so we will only display your total. You will need to remember the color of the gems that you discovered when posting in the Teller, though. If you would like to
keep track of the small gems that you've collected (as far as numbers and colors go), you are welcome to do so in your Signature or on a webpage or something. Please do not directly link to our gem images. You will
need to download them and re-upload them to your own host to display them in your signature or on your website.
Gems are available to each registered member!! Everyone has the opportunity to participate in collecting gems! Just remember, you'll need to have registered a Main Account (more info
here) to get
Verified in order to have the gems credited to you.
If you are a Senior Clan Member and had collected gems on the old DC, please
PM the Gem Keeper with your old DC username so that
she can credit your gems to your new account. Please note that you
must have posted correctly in the
Member Directory to specify your
main account or you will be unable to transfer your gems. You may also notify her of any elementals you have also found at this time. Once you have been credited, please keep in mind that your Gem total only
reflects your small Gem totals. Elemental or Large Gems will be recorded in
The Vault.
Ways to Obtain Gems
- Discover them in a Treasure Hunt or Scavenger Hunt
Treasure Hunts are Mod-hosted events that occur in the Roleplay Forums. Keep an eye out for any future Treasure Hunts that may be happening. Scavenger hunts
may be organized by a mod or elder following a hidden link. One following one of these must put the clues together to follow the correct path leading to a hidden set of gems.
- Discovering gems dropped by a Mod or Elder
Every now and then Mods or Elders may drop gems on the forums, webpages, or in the shoutbox. These may be dropped at random or given to a member who has shown especially
good qualities that week (being nice to newbies, being helpful or supportive). Please note that these are only Gems dropped by a Mod or Elder listed
here - no other members may drop gems.
- Win a DC Contest
Clan Contests will be hosted from time-to-time and the reward will usually involve a hefty amount of gems. Keep
watching the News Page for more information!
- Submit a Webpage and do research on Site Content
- Submit art, poems, stories, or other eligible content
Art, Poems, Stories, and select other site content may be eligible for gems in the future. Keep checking back here for more details.
- Submit content to the Library
Submitting select content to the Library may also be eligible for gems in the future. Keep checking back here for more details.
- Have an Oekaki image archived
If you're active on the DC Oekaki and draw a very nice Dragon-themed image, your drawing could be archived! This would gain you a
healthy sum of gems for your work!
- Trading with other Members
You can make trades with other members to gain gems - trade them an elemental for some of your small gems, trade them your egg for some gems, or even trade commissions of Adoptables or artwork! The
opportunities for gem trading are endless! You must remember, however, that all trades and payments arranged with other members are done at your own risk. Because they are now managed independently
and you do not need to go through the Banker, trades with other members are not moderated by DC staff so we will have no way to keep records of trades in order to solve disputes. We will not be handling
and privately any problems that may come through private trades.
- See if you can discover other ways to gain gems....
If you've discovered some gems or would like to make a trade with another member, please visit
The Teller where you can fill
out a bank slip to redeem the gems you've found. The Teller has information in their thread so be sure to visit it and read it fully to ensure there are no problems with your bank transaction.
Gems that MAY NOT be Collected
- Gems displayed in forum Signatures
Whether these gems are in a Mod's sig or a member's sig, they may not be claimed. Signature Gems are for display only - so feel free to use your signature to show off YOURS! :)
- Any Gems posted on this Page
As I said above, the Gems posted on this page may not be claimed - sorry x)
Now that you've got the gems, what are you going to do with them? There are just as many ways to spend them as there are to earn them! Please remember that all spending of gems must be handled through
The Banker. Any gems that you spend through the banker will "disappear" so-to-speak where as gems that you give to other members
will be credited to that member. No gems given to the banker will be given to any other member and, once spent through the banker, gems cannot be reclaimed.
Ways to Spend Gems
- Commission other members for art, webpages, adoptables, etc.
You and other members may work out fees in return for art or anything else! You must remember, however, that all trades or payments arranged with other members are done at your own
risk. Because they are now managed independently and privately and you do not need to go through the Banker, trades with other members are not moderated by DC staff so we will have no way to
keep records of trades in order to solve disputes. We will not be handling any problems that may come through private trades.
- Purchase items out of the Catalogue
The Catalogue contains a list of all of the items that may be purchased through the Clan such as aging your account, buying an email account, buying a custom title, buying
access to the DC Gallery, and much, much more!
- See if you can discover other ways to spend gems....
There is a lot of potential here and a lot of fun to be had! Keep checking back as gems may be eligible for more things in the future. Enjoy!
