Clan History image (note from Rose... "This was always blank XD!")
In this modern day and age, an age of computers and cellphones and instant communication across the face of the planet, things are a lot different than we, as Draiks, knew at the Beginning. But, change comes to everything, and there is no better way of handling change than to embrace it fully.

After untold ages of isolation and silence, our Territorial lands have finally awakened. A new, fresh wind blows across our hidden lands, carrying with it the scent of life, revival, and new brethren Draiks. Ancient traditions are changing, now, and the once hidden Draik Clan seeks contact with the outside world, finally revealing itself to the rest of Neopia.

Our lands seem to delight at the new blood that they see. Since the new Draiks have arrived, the plants have grown healthier, taller, and more beautiful. The waters, after being grey and drab for so many eons, have become crystal clear and crisp. The very stones of the High Grotto atop Boanta Mountain seem to celebrate the Draiks returning to them. A whisper echoes through the Moroth Caves, unheard save for those who listen: the Draiks have returned to us. The Shobai Volcano, as well, has awakened and rumbled its greetings to the new life.

Even the Draiks of ancient times, who have been in a dusty sleep under Clan grounds for many ages, are awakening to see the changes that are taking place. Some of the elders have emerged to welcome the changes, while others have retreated to the darker places in order to avoid exposure to them.

Many of the older Draiks still fluently speak the ancient Draiconic tongue, and some of them use that language exclusively, refusing to use the modern day's Common tongue. Draiconic has, in recent eons, faded out of many memories, replaced by the Common tongue, but it is still there to learn, to be revived.

There is yet much to be done, and much to be seen. Traditions are changing, and new customs are being created. Some oppose the changes. Some of the eggborn Draiks show resistance in accepting those Draiks they see as 'untrue' Draiks, those who have been morphed rather than egg-hatched. There is hot debate between elders of the Clan on this very issue.

Our future looks bright to some, but others see dark clouds forming on the horizon. There is no telling where this new Age will lead us. Will it be an age of peace, or an age of political strife over a paradise land? All we can do is keep beating our wings and keep our heads raised to face the days to come. The Draik Clan Online is another leap in our evolution, a milestone of interconnection that will help to usher in our new Age, for better or for worse. Konai Kimane - the Clan Lives.

To understand what the Clan is all about, we have to start at the beginning. First of all, you need a basic understanding of the game www.neopets.com. Never heard of it? Then click on that link, have a browse, sign up for a free account and enter the world we where born from.

In December 2002 a Neopets player named Ozzybantam created a rather stubborn fire Draik named Dracahz, only a few months after Neopets.com launched that new species. You can only imagine how long she had to save up to get that potion... After a while she discovered that finding another Draik to roleplay with, or Draik owners to exchange art with, was harder then she would have ever imagined. Then and there Ozz decided to start a database of all Draiks she could find, since she knew others had the same problem.

So she boldly contacted and pestered all Draik owners she could find, on chatboards, in beauty contests, with names friends sent her. While most ignored this pesky little player, after a while a few did start replying, and submitting information for the database that was created.

A list of Draiknames and descriptions was all it was for the first few weeks... then Ozz met Darkkitsune/Michi, who saw more potential in that little idea then Ozz ever could have. Enthousiastically, Michi teamed up with Ozz to mold that little list into an interactive website.

While the memberlist grew, the site expanded, and just when things threatened to get too much for the two lovely ladies, a third joined their ranks; Pyowolf1, better known as Seph. This added a Scot to the little international Dutch/American team, making it unbeatable. And after the owner of lzrd.net, enticed by the wild plans of this energetic team, offered free space for the Draik Clan... Lets just say that from there on the website expanded exponentially, and went through 5 different designs before reaching the site you are browsing right now.

Named the Draik Clan, that tiny list evolved into a community that is not only a Draik fansite, but also a haven for all kinds of people to roleplay, exchange art and stories, and create worlds of their own! After 4 years many things have changed; new servers, new looks, and lately, a reinforcement to our team; 3 new admins. But at the core, we are still that same little site we where 4 years ago, and that, we hope to remain. Free, no pressure, just a place to have fun. While the DC Crew takes care of administration and adds a few pages here and there, the hundreds of members have access to their own private forum, messagesystem, Oekaki, Gallery and a variety of things. Aided by a crew of voluntary Moderators, the Clan is now a lovely place to simply... hang out ;)

The Clan is not a guild*, and never will be. Why? Because the Draiks are the members, not the humans who 'own' them. Therefor, owning a Draik is a must if you want to join. Yes, we are exclusive, but also make sure that guests receive a warm welcome.

I hope you now have a bit clearer image of the site you wandered into. And there is only one way to truly find out what and who we are; start posting! Discover, explore, and never hesitate to ask for help. There will always be somebody around to answer your questions.

Greetings,
Ozz and the Draik Clan Crew!

*(Mind, while there are guilds around with names that resemble our website, they are in NO way connected to us. Just for the record.)
